Senior Process Safety Engineer

Baker Engineering and Risk Consultants, Inc. BakerRisk uses the most advanced methodologies and tools to predict potential consequences, providing services to industrial companies and government organizations around the world.

BakerRisk Europe Limited, our wholly owned EMEA region subsidiary based in the UK, is currently seeking senior level Process Safety engineers to assist with a broad range of safety studies including Process Safety Management, Process Hazard Analysis, etc. in the EMEA region.

Responsibilities:

The candidate would be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with clients in the EMEA region, focused on facilitating PHAs, hazard identification, LOPA, SIS-SIL studies, and or Loss control audits and studies. The candidate would leverage their practical experience to provide process safety risk management consulting services to worldwide clients and overseeing project teams. There will be considerable interface with our US and Canada operations to deliver services to our multi-national clients.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates should meet or exceed the following requirements:

Required:

  • B.Sc. in a relevant Engineering field
  • 15-20 years Engineering in chemical processing (oil and gas production, refining, petrochemical, hydrogen, renewables, or fertilizer industries are preferred)
  • 10-15 years in Process Safety Risk Management
  • Experience facilitating Process Hazard Analyses, Layers of Protection Analyses, or similar risk reviews
  • Demonstrated capability to manage engineering, risk, process safety, or similar consulting projects, and to utilize that information for practical recommendation on course of action
  • Comfortable developing long-term client relationships and executing consulting projects
  • Good understanding of industry safety needs, trends, and economic landscape
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving, organizational, and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, listening, technical writing, public speaking, etc.)
  • Expertise with Process Safety Risk Management good practices and standards
  • Knowledge of regional legislation and requirements to be compliant with health and safety
  • Ability to work autonomously, show initiative, be willing to learn a variety of software packages, and have flexibility to travel and work outside normal office hours

Preferred:

  • Experience applying risk management tools and techniques. Note that BakerRisk has a comprehensive suite of in-house software tools and suitable candidates would be trained to leverage staff who use such tools to service clients
  • Participated in process safety management auditing or safety code gap analysis.
  • Knowledge of fire prevention codes, accident investigation and related services is considered a plus.
