We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Analyst / Network Engineer to join our growing IT team. This hybrid role is ideal for candidates with strong networking experience—especially with Cisco, Meraki, and Arista gear—who are also interested in cloud networking and have a keen interest in cybersecurity. This position offers the opportunity to work with both on-premises and cloud-based environments, including FCoE, Fibre Channel (FC) storage arrays, VMware virtual switching, and cloud platforms (Azure\Entra). A passion for cybersecurity is highly desirable as you will help enhance network security strategies. You will also have the opportunity to grow into systems architecture under the guidance of senior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Engineering:
- Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, focusing on Cisco, Meraki, and Arista devices.
- Manage and troubleshoot Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) networks and FC storage arrays.
- Administer VMware virtual switches (vSwitch, vDS) and ensure seamless integration within virtualized environments.
- Configure and secure routers, switches, wireless access points and firewalls while ensuring secure, efficient network operations.
- Support and manage network monitoring and IPS/IDS systems like SolarWinds, Kroll, and Sentinel One. Proactively monitor and respond to network alarms, escalating as appropriate, and recommend upgrades, patches, and improvements as needed.
- Create detailed and professional infrastructure diagrams using Microsoft Visio to visualize and communicate our network architecture effectively
- Optimize network performance for both on-premises and cloud environments using monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Cloud Networking:
- Configure and manage cloud networking solutions (Azure/Entra) with a focus on hybrid cloud infrastructure.
- Ensure secure and scalable cloud-to-network integration and maintain high performance in cloud-based systems.
- Implement and manage cloud security features (VPCs, security groups, VPNs) to ensure the protection of data and services.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, bringing fresh ideas and innovative solutions to our network strategies.
- Cybersecurity Focus:
- Develop and enhance network security protocols, focusing on firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
- Monitor network traffic for potential vulnerabilities/threats and implement security improvements.
- Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity threats and help develop proactive security strategies.
- Systems Analysis & Support:
- Analyze and evaluate both on-premises and cloud systems for efficiency, security, and scalability.
- Collaborate with IT teams to align networking and systems solutions with business needs and security requirements.
- Assist with system integrations, upgrades, and troubleshooting for both physical and cloud environments.
- Develop and document processes for hybrid network architectures.
- Growth into Systems Architecture:
- Learn systems architecture, focusing on designing secure, scalable, and efficient hybrid (on-premises and cloud) environments.
- Work alongside senior team member to gradually take on responsibilities related to long-term infrastructure planning and system integration.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a network engineer, with expertise in Cisco, Meraki, and Arista technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and Fibre Channel (FC) storage arrays.
- Proficiency with VMware virtual switching (vSwitch, vDS) and virtual networking solutions.
- Experience in cloud networking, preferably with Azure/Entra.
- Strong understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control.
- Passion for cybersecurity, with an eagerness to stay current on threats and security technologies.
- Familiarity with network monitoring, automation, and diagnostic tools.
- Willingness to learn and grow into systems architecture.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cisco CCNA or higher certification.
- Certification or hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, etc.).
- Cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Security+) are highly desirable.
- Experience with network automation tools and scripting.
- Previous experience in systems architecture or analysis is a plus, but not required.
