Director, Business Development – North America

Department: Business Development and Marketing
Location: Houston, TX

Since 1984, BakerRisk has taken a comprehensive approach to helping clients identify hazards, manage risk, and keep people safe. Today, we earn our customers’ respect by providing full-spectrum risk management solutions alongside transparent, data-driven advice. Come see why customers around the globe trust BakerRisk. We are 100% Employee-Owned.

YOU: As the Director, Business Development – North America for BakerRisk, you will OWN a critical role for advancing our initiatives, with a strong focus on the Low Carbon Energy (LCE) sector.

As part of the BD team, you will work with our engineers and consultants across our five North American locations, as well as our Houston-based Marketing and Communications team. There is tremendous opportunity for penetration into LCE markets with our core services and products. There is also significant room for optimizing relationships with our current clients, working in other sectors and markets, as well as supporting the BakerRisk Learning Center (BRLC) and our Key Account program.

The majority of your success will not be derived from heavy conference attendance for the sake of visibility to the market, but rather developed from strategically selected relationships, intensely focused on, driven by listening to what a client needs. To succeed on this team, you need to embody Ownership, Urgency and Client-Centricity.

You, and others who know you, consider yourself a driver, a catalyst. Large-scale proposal and bid management skills are helpful for internal kick-offs with technical and non-technical staff. You will also be working with our MarComm staff and a BD Coordinator, who can assist with developing presentations, client research, reports and briefs, etc. You will also be expected to have a regular cadence with our external Communications Specialist, to ensure that you remain at the top of your game.

You are high-energy and are naturally inclined to show how worthy endeavors can succeed rather than how they can fail. You are biased towards action, finding solutions, and doing what most consider difficult, improbable and sometimes impossible.

This position reports to the Global Director, Business Development & Marketing/Communications, and it is based in Houston. Travel is expected at more than 50% throughout North America.
