FORTRESS Protective Buildings is on the hunt for an Assistant Project Manager to help us build safer, stronger, and smarter. If you have 1–3 years of experience in commercial or industrial construction and you’re ready to level up your career, we want you on our team in Houston, TX!

This is your chance to sharpen your project management skills while helping deliver small to medium-scale construction projects that make a real impact. You will collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and clients to keep everything running smoothly—on time, on budget, and on point.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist with the planning, purchasing, execution, and monitoring of industrial and petrochemical construction projects.
• Coordinate with a powerhouse team of fabricators, general contractors, architects, engineers, and more.
• Keep projects moving by developing schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Manage and maintain project documents like contracts, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Conduct onsite visits to make sure everything is safe, compliant, and up to FORTRESS’s high-quality standards.
• Identify potential risks and work with the team to develop smart solutions.
• Support procurement by coordinating supplier relationships and material deliveries.
• Travel up to 50% to project sites (mostly Gulf Coast, but maybe further—adventure awaits!).
• Help with project estimating, bid management, and keeping subcontractors aligned.
• Track and manage change orders, punch lists, and closeout documents.

What You Bring:

• 1–3 years of combined project and construction management experience.
• A proactive, flexible mindset—you’re ready to tackle challenges head-on.
• Analytical thinking and a problem-solving attitude.
• Knowledge of safety culture in refineries and chemical plants.
• Ability to travel (sometimes up to 50%, depending on project load).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Bluebeam, and Procore.
• Experience with Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software.
• Experience with budgets between $2M and $10M.

Extra Credit If You Have:

• A BS in Construction Management or Engineering.
• Industrial building experience in refining/petrochemical industries.
• Precast concrete construction experience.
• Safety training and certifications like Basic Plus.
• A TWIC card.
• A passion for business development, marketing, and sales.
